FACILITATION //
I am an experienced theatre facilitator, the results of which not often captured in a compelling photograph, and the extent too large to list here, but nevertheless a huge part of my work as a socially engaged artist. Companies I have worked with include Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre, Altru Creative Education, Proper Job Theatre, Collective Encounters and Community Arts Northwest. COLLABORATION //
The importance and emphasis on collaboration in my theatre work remains strong, after coming to the fore during training at Hope Street Limited and Liverpool John Moores University. PREVIOUS WORK //
COLECTIVO SUSTENTO //
Working with 14-25 year olds on remand to facilitate drama sessions based on civic participation; working with adult prisoners in Felix e Illusiones Theatre
Collective to devise material for a new show based on parentification; working with young people in a semi-open prison to create drama through storytelling
THE CENTRE //
The Centre was a promenade piece in an office block, devised and performed by Collective Encounters Youth Theatre. The performance focused on austerity and public
service cuts, imagining a surreal dystopian future which operates as one 'big society'. I facilitated devising sessions with young people in the group and directed the piece alongside Matthew Elliott.
HOME DECONSTRUCTED //
A devised piece focusing on the notion of 'home' and what it means to different people, using personal experiences and the stories of others as starting points. I was a writer and performer on the project, a long term collaboration with theatre maker Natasia Bullock (YEP Director).
WEEKEND ARTS COLLEGE: MISUNDERSTOOD //
I planned and led weekly drama and physical theatre sessions for a large group ranging in age from 14- 20, devising and writing material collaboratively resulting in a performance based on the theme of 'Misunderstood'.
APPLY CAMOUFLAGE: DISAPPEAR //
As part of On the Verge festival, showcasing emerging artists working in non-theatre spaces. This devised installation performance focussed on identity and relationships in a modern world, following the stories of 4 characters who ‘disappeared’ through varying areas of their lives; motherhood, first love and career ambitions.
